Start by asking your department or institution about paying for your travel to CUWiP and registration fee. Many departments are able and willing to do so. If that cannot be arranged, then limited travel funding is available. Contact us for information. If you would like the Davis CUWiP to cover airfare, you must send us your planned flights or train tickets with prices for approval before you make the purchase. We can only reimburse air travel in coach class.
Fly to Sacramento International Airport (SMF).
The airport is about half an hour from the Davis campus. We will arrange van shuttles for transportation from the airport. Email us your full flight information: airlines, flight numbers, airports, flight times. We'll schedule a pick-up and give you instructions. Note that if you do not request a pick-up but arrange a taxi, shuttle, or ride-share for yourself, we will not reimburse you for that expense.
Go to the Davis Amtrak station, DAV. The train station is about a mile from the hotel. Contact us if you'd like to be picked up at the station.
As we get closer to the conference we will help organize carpooling groups to keep travel costs low. Please indicate during registration if you plan on driving to Davis, where you are driving from, and how many additional passengers you can accommodate.
The Physics Building is located towards the southern side of the UC Davis campus, west of Mrak Hall. We will provide parking suggestions once we have a sense of how many people are driving.
Participants will stay at a Hyatt hotel on campus, a 10-minute walk from the Physics Building. DO NOT make your own hotel reservation! Rooms will be shared by 2-3 students, depending on the room configurations and student preferences. Each room has either a king bed or two queen beds, plus a sofa bed. Since the conference will pay the hotel directly, you won't have to worry about paying for the room out of pocket and being reimbursed later. You will be responsible for any extra expenses, such as room service orders or items from the mini-bar.
The path between the hotel and the Physics Building goes through the lovely campus arboretum.
You will be able to attend a CUWiP at no cost to
yourself for transportation and hotel.

to save all receipts!
